La versión de chat grupal de MUSEXPO (sin filtros)

We’re not here to drop a dry industry recap. This is the version you’d get if you texted us:
“Okay but what are they really saying in those rooms?”

Four of our fellows–Ok McFly, Coyote Creates, Richie Bridges, y Andrea Barrera–along with Program Director, Shannon, and CEO, Olivia Dodd, just got back from MUSEXPO. Full of the kind of access you can’t Google, MUSEXPO is one of the few spaces where the people shaping the music industry are actually in conversation.

And here’s the headline: For all the talk about AI and algorithms… the fundamentals haven’t changed

Live music matters.
Originality matters.
Human connection matters.

Everything else? Tools.

The Reality Check Artists Don’t Hear Enough

It’s never been easier to start making music. You can learn production on YouTube, build an audience on TikTok. You can even distribute your music globally without a label. In theory, opportunity is everywhere. In reality? It’s never been more confusing to sustain one.

Artists today aren’t just making music, they’re: creating, marketing, networking, branding, strategizing and running a business… all at once. Most of them without a roadmap and that’s the part no one posts about.

So What’s Actually Shifting in the Industry?

A few things came up over and over again:

  • The middle is disappearing
Small venues are closing, revenue is concentrated at the top and if you’re not specialized, it’s getting harder to survive.
  • Fandom > followers
500 real fans will take you further than 500K passive listeners.
  • Taste still wins
Yes, people are talking about AI. But data only informs. People still decide.
  • Artists are world-builders now
Music alone isn’t enough. Breakthrough artists are creating ecosystems that capture their story, identity, live experiences and community in one. The differentiator? Music is the entry point, not the whole game.
  • Live is the proof point
The more digital we get, the more people crave real-life experiences.

The Gap No One Is Filling

There’s a space the industry has quietly stopped building in. Most artists live between “I want to do music professionally” and “I’m ready for a manager or label.” Often too advanced to be beginners or too early to be “investable.”

And without access to top industry professionals, mentors, capital and a network, many don’t even know what they’re missing.

So… can a non-profit add value without becoming the industry?

We’re betting big. We’re building intentionally.

  • Helping artists get industry-ready
  • Expanding access to networks and knowledge with top industry professionals, award-winning artists, and mentors
  • Creating real community (not just gigs) where artists can exist, collaborate, and grow
  • Supporting live music ecosystems

Talent isn’t the issue. Access is.
At Amplifi, talent finds its way forward 👉

So…what should artists actually do with all of this?

  • Build your identity before chasing opportunity
  • Treat yourself like a business (because you are!)
  • Invest in real fans, not vanity metrics
  • Get in rooms (online won’t replace that!)
  • Play live, even when it’s messy
  • Protect your rights early, not later

And maybe, most importantly: You don’t have to do this alone.
